That will never happen with his criminal history. If he gets life, he will die in prison. In Florida, we do not have parole. Life means literally life in prison until your dead.

Juries do strange things. Lots of people try to avoid serving on juries and that makes a difference for who does get seated. Plus, a jury who saw 8 days of testimony and walked him in an hour and a half clearly saw something they didn't like. Usually a weakness in the evidence gets accounted for in the plea but this guy was already a sex offender so I'm guessing his plea offer was life or close to it. That will force a trial. It's easy to wonder how a case with a cold dna hit and registered sex offender goes south but the jury saw it that way and they saw more than anyone.

I heard that the jury wasn't allowed to hear past crimes. Serial rapist, out of prison, does it again, then gets away with it. I don't know all the facts but that is what it reads like. Maybe the jury didn't see more than everyone.

There had to be some holes in the prosecution case, it just doesn't add up otherwise.

Well Polk County has him now for not registering as a sex offender. I really wonder if the jury was allowed to know he was on that list.

There are rules about juries not finding out about the specific charges in a defendant's past because the jurors would convict a person on their past without hearing any evidence. Their past is not evidence and deemed prejudicial.
