My Best Friend and Love of My Life went to Heaven Sunday afternoon, 3/10/19. We were together for 37 years and this April 7th would have been our 35th Anniversary.

When I'm able to talk clearly about her, I will fill you guys in. She was a true American Warrior in the 1970's at a time when women in the military were just "females".

Sorry, I've got to go, too many tears on the keyboard.

I am terribly sorry to hear this. We should never have to go through this - it's awful. Hugs to you.

Sorry Ding. My prayers are that He let's me out live my parents and my wife. Nothing in life is worse than losing a child. The second is losing your love. We all gotta go, it's those of us left behind that have to stay strong. I'll put you in my prayers as well.

Having met her, she was quite a person, tough as nails too, and I can only imagine how big the loss must be. Much sincere sympathy, and a heavy heart here too. The thoughts and prayers of the 2L community are with you.

Well, first off, the old adage that "the third time is the charm" is wrong. The Fourth Time is the Charm and I know that as a fact!

I had seen her more than a few times over 14 years but, we finally did find each other in 1982.

Nel (Janelle, and I was "Ward") spent half her time on her grandparents farm while she was growing up. Her grandparent eventually set up "winter" shop in Clearwater, Florida and Nell would visit them there. She fell in love with Florida. She told her parents that she was going to move to Florida. They told her to save her money. Well, as she would have told you, she started baby sitting every kid within miles and saved her money. One day when she was 15 (1968), instead of getting on the bus to school, she got on a Greyhound to Florida! Her best childhood friend's family had a beachfront condo here in Satellite Beach and that is where she ended up. Her mother soon came down from Detroit and took her back home. It was just down the street from where I grew up and also happened to be the same beach where I learned to surf! I did not meet her at the time but, we all knew that "that girl" ran away from Detroit. I damn near died when she told me that part of her story! This was the "First Time".

The Second Time was when she was in the Air Force. She joined when she turned 18 and perchance ended up here at Patrick AFB! As she told me this-and-that about her time at Patrick she mentioned that she had a VW Beetle; yellow with a black vinyl roof, and a (I forget but) Lincoln or Rolls Royce grill on the front. Oh, My, God! We knew who she was. She was Smoking, Traffic Stopping, HOT! As "surfers" we always hooted and honked at her when she drove down A1A! But, I never met her then.

The Third Time was while working at old Documation in Palm Bay, circa 1979. I was the Maintenance Coordinator in the big (world ranked) machine shop and she was in charge of International Field Service repair/spare parts and supplies. She worked across the street in "corporate" and was always finely dressed. Again, she was smoking hot! Somebody in the machine shop would see her start to walk across the street to the assembly and stock room buildings and they would yell out "Here She Comes"!!! I have to assume that there are still nose prints engrained on the windows to this day. So, one day management asked me if I wanted some overtime working in the stock room pulling spares for field service. Sure, I'd like the extra cash. So, I show up at the stock room at the appointed time and, , , , there she is, , , , she is the one in charge! I was stunned and completely befuddled! I did not say a single word to her all night, although I could not take my eyes off of her! I only knew her as "Mrs. Fuller".

The Fourth Time was IT. She had lived here in Suntree since 1978 with her first husband but, had divorced him. Our now good friend Dave had moved in next door to her. There was a girl where he worked that he had taken a liking too and one night at Happy Hour, with Nel in attendance, Dave tells his girl friend that Nel is looking for a house mate. She was not but, it came to be that Jackie moved in with her. Jackie is my cousin! Although we are not real cousins. We grew up across the street from each other and all the parents where "Uncle" and "Aunt". We eventually figured out that her parents were "only children" and, as such, she could not have any real uncles/aunts/cousins! Anyway, , , , one night Jackie asked me to meet her and "the gang" at Brassy's in Cocoa Beach. OK. I get there and there sits Nel! It was Jackie's intent to "hook us up", and it did come to pass. Jackie and the gang eventually got up and left without letting Nel or me know they were going. Jackie had driven Nel and it was up to me to drive Nel home, and from that moment in 1982 we were never again apart.

37 years later I type this to you.
