No, the paws have been "repaired". The one thing is that there are some very old repairs that date back to around 2500BC. OK, but, , , , if the Egyptians built the Sphinx "around" 2500BC, wasn't it "brand new" in 2500BC? Why would it need repairs?
The interesting thing about the "erosion' is that even a beginning BS in geology, without knowing any "history", can walk up to the Sphinx and tell you that the erosion is from rain/water. The first archeologists/geologists that stated that the erosion was from water, and not from "wind blown sand", were darn near tarred and feathered and run-out-of-town. Talk like that about the Sphinx, and some other architecturally disconnected buildings there, imply that the Egyptians "moved in" to existing structures and did not actually build much! ------------------------- Dora Hates You |
