Ok, if you are a car person by now you have heard about the New Corvette C8. What are your thoughts on it? Personally, after the shine has worn off and they start rolling out the Grand Sport and Z-versions I want to look at them again and see what the real world performance and numbers are. I'm not a Corvette guy, but have to give Chevy a lot of credit for rolling out the C8 the way they did and making a game changing car...and it still has a big NA V8.

A friend of mine is about to pull the trigger. He saw them fit two bags of golf clubs in the car, along with two people, and that may be the clincher.

I don't have his connections (to the Corvette Racing Team) or his budget, but I wouldn't mind having one.

It's hard to say if they'll have a few kinks to work out with such a new design; I hope not.

With such a radical new direction, I'd prefer they rename the car, but they're way too tied to the name and it's impossible to support two cars of a similar class (the traditional 'vette and the new design with a different name).

It is what it is. Will be interesting to see how it times out on the Nurb, and what variants they'll add in the future.

It's the first corvette that I would want to buy. Mid engine, ferrari looks, massive HP and for well under 100k. I think they are going to kill. I paid nearly 40k for a limited edition FRS a while back just because the car handles well. Had absolutely no power. If this were out it woulda been a done deal. But of course I'll wait for Top Gear guys at Grand Tour check it out. A Porsche Cayman or BMW M2 may still be the way to go regardless of HP. But the thing looks like a Ferrari under at 60k or so? WTF

Chevy made a wise move with this car. Just think, and NSX is almost 200k

GreenLantern - I love that Zeus Bronze Metallic color on the the second picture down in your post. Again, I think chevy did a great job and this is the natural evolution for the Corvette...and I am not a Corvette fanboy. Zora wanted the Corvette to be mid engine a long time ago. But agree, need to give them some time to work the bugs out and come out with the higher trim levels. I've been playing with the big Mopars the past few years and have no intentions of changing that, but would love to have a used >2021 GS or Z06 variant in the garage too. One thing about the new C8, it kind of pulled the rug out of the weak GT500 roll out. Heard a lot of orders for the GT500 are being retracted because of the C8. Ford kind of blew it with that one.

Brand loyalty notwithstanding, it's going to make anybody in the market for a Mustang GT, Challenger R/T, M3, M4, new Supra, Cayman, Boxter and many other sports cars rethink their decision. There's a lot of bang for the buck there.

If it handles like a Cayman, most likely like a 911, this thing will sell like hotcakes. I'm assuming Ford is shitting their pants wishing they released a budget friendly GT. The BMW M2 still has waiting lists. This thing blows it away on paper. Good times...

I agree with what you are saying about the sports cars, but in your list you mention the Challenger. The hemi/SC versions are true muscle cars and not sports cars like the others you mentioned so I think they are not going to be impacted much by the C8. Several Hellcat owners are starting to think about the C8 as a possible compliment to their Hellcat, and not a replacement for it.

Was just playing around with build your own tool on chevys website. No pricing yet, but I bet by the time you add the performance options you will want (z51, big wing, performance seats), dealer fees, tax, it will be $70 grandish out the door. Still a performance bargain. Don't like the row of switches in the interior.

Supposedly that is a retro accent, a throwback to the old stingray.

I'll go against the grain here and say I don't care for the hard lines and edges, but that's my personal taste. I like the mid engine idea, maybe seeing one in person might change my mind.

I am a Corvette fan. I like it a lot. But, most likely, I will keep my current one. The current one has all I need for the present.
