After most of the water flows out of the muck, trucks will haul it to Platt Ranch, at the south side of U.S. 192, west of Interstate 95, where the muck will be tilled into the ground to fertilize pastures.
Isn't that the edge of the St Johns watershed?
Platt property like all of Palm Bay west of I-95 is SJR basin but drained to the lagoon via C1-Turkey Creek. There's pumps that get Platt and west Palm Bay water pumped up into the Sawgrass Retention Area where it then feeds into the St. Johns after spending a little time in the wetland cells. But when it rains a lot the pumps don't get it all. Some will go to the SJR. Some will flow back under I-95 and head on east back to the lagoon. Kind of a shell game with the nutrients. This muck removal stuff is silly if we don't fix all the myriad upland sources of nutrients.
