I have a ton of old books to get rid of; would like to dump all at once.

Could recycle, but I think I'd have to tear covers off all the hardbacks first.

I doubt the library would want most, nor would a thrift store.

Some are academic (many outdated), many are tech (mostly outdated), and some general entertainment.

I doubt anybody really wants to sort thru 10 big boxes.

All ideas appreciated, short of building a fire for the zombie apocalypse.

Not sure about your stash, sounds kinda boring... but I took my former library to a USO service center. Even an old book is better than nothing when you're floating around the ocean.

I do not know the name, but there is a shop on New Haven in the old downtown Melbourne. It's up near the beginning where it intersects with 192. If you come in from 192 it is going to be on your right and there is a tattoo shop next door.
Sorry, it's the best I can do. and I haven't been there in about 6 months so it is highly possible that it is now gone, but it has been there for years.

The bookstore in the Merritt Island mall has a giant sign that says they buy books. I'm sure they would take them for free and it will save you the time of shredding covers.

Thanks everyone; I'll check out MI. The one in old downtown MLB closed earlier this year. Too many for the Navy -- enough to sink a battleship!

(Funny story, worksux... On my first boat assignment, a month off the Aleutians, I took so many books they broke the handle on my suitcase. I like to read! )
