I'm getting very frequent clogs of my brand new sprinkler heads.

It's a green, leafy growth that reminds me of thin kelp or some kind of seaweed.

I think it's mainly affecting one zone, but I haven't nailed it down to exactly that yet.

If it's only one zone, maybe one of the pipes feeding it got cracked and infiltrated by some kind of landscape leftover. It only seems like that would only be a root in the pipe though; surprised it's that green without some exposure to daylight.

Anyone ever seen this before? I could have made a sushi roll out of the stuff in one sprinkler head.

Thanks for any help.

If you were up here by Ocala, I'd say pollen. Down there...space dust? Either way, sounds tasty. When's dinner? I bet Burry has a recipe

Do you have a transparent plastic inlet filter with a failed screen?

Yes, barely transparent anymore from sun/oxidation. It does look like a mess, from what I could see thru with my flashlight tonight.

Seems like a weird filter though... It looks more like it's a Tee off the side of the inlet pipe (like an appendix) than something directly in series with the inlet flow.

I assume those can be replaced (filter or whole screen) or maybe cleaned?

As for the source: it's one of those artesian wells shared between two houses. Are those prone to feeding sushi to the pump?

My artesian will have white mineral buildup, but I've never seen any gelatinous algae. I do have to replace my sink pipes in a bathroom every five years or so due to an algae type build up. It builds up, then breaks free and makes a biological pipe stopper.

Ah the wonders of owning a 60 year old house.

I was right.

Thanks -- that could explain a few things around here! (57-year old house); recently replumbed... Same white mineral buildup in my sprinkler pump filter as well.
