I'm sure mongers have been out here with this information before but what's different is the thousands of earthquakes that of occurred over the past week in the Canary Islands.
It's been going on for over a week but now groups are sayin keep an eye on it, and watch the buoys.
I guess the best thing we could do is may be run to Orlando from Brevard county If they sound the alarm. It's likely to be 50 to 100 for tidal wave in Florida buy some claim it would wipe out New York City Boston the north East Coast.

Hmmm. It's been a geological minute since we've had any tidal wave action around here...and 2021 is not done! Thanks for the head's up, tony!

Been watching this for years and manage to forget about for years. I also wonder if the Bahamas takes the brunt of it for south Florida.

"Earthquake Hazard level: Very low In the area you have selected (Cape Verde) earthquake hazard is classified as very low according to the information that is currently available. This means that there is less than a 2% chance of potentially-damaging earthquake shaking in your project area in the next 50 years."
However, you could just leave now if its a concern. ------------------------- So if you are a surfer I wish you the prosperity that allows you more time to pursue the salt water dream, and the true happiness that comes from warm water, clean waves and the companionship of your fellow surfers. If there is a "slide", and dependent on prime direction, parts of FLA could be overfwashed all the way to the gulf.

As lava streams surged across La Palma, some news reports of the eruption raised concerns that the eruption could potentially send a "mega-tsunami" hurtling toward the Eastern U.S. - a fear that has been raised and debunked several times in the past The idea originally came from a 2001 study, published in the journal Geophysical Research Letters, which suggested that, if Cumbre Vieja ever erupted again, a huge chunk of the volcano could suddenly collapse into the Atlantic Ocean. The study authors estimated that, volume-wise, the chunk could measure between 35 and 120 cubic miles (150 to 500 cubic kilometers) and could send a wave as tall as 82 feet (25 m) crashing into the U.S. coast. But based on recent surveys of Cumbre Vieja, experts have determined that such a monumental collapse would be extremely unlikely, Dave Petley, a landslide expert at the University of Sheffield, wrote in a blog for the American Geophysical Union. More recent studies suggest that, in the very worst-case scenario, about 19 cubic miles (80 cubic kilometers) of rock might slide off the volcano during a violent eruption, generating a wave that would be 6.5 feet (2 m) tall by the time it reached the Eastern Seaboard. "But the current eruption at La Palma? It's very, very likely to remain a local hazard," volcanologist and science journalist Robin George Andrews posted on Twitter. "So don't buy into any fearmongering." http://www.livescience.com/la-palma-volcanic-eruption-2021 ------------------------- Hi. I'm Mike. |
