I'm pretty sure he will be okay. And, that somebody will pick him up. Cheaper this time ,though. Probably only $6M/year.

He's gonna be okay. With belt tightening, some solid financial planning and a bit of luck, he will make his way out of this rainstorm and join guys like Scott Frost, Willie Taggert, Charlie Weiss, Muschamp, and Malzahn. In the end, working for money is not easy, bargaining for it though, that is apparently where the magic happens.

How the hell does a football coach rate that kind of money from a public university. We've got a serious problem with priorities in this country.

Very few private univerisities are in that economic league. Maybe USC and Notre Dame.

Tx A&M it 'self will not pay a single .01 of that 76mil ...... DEEP pocket boosters will fork up the $$$$$ to send Ol Jimbo packing.

And YES, The USofA has a very serious problem with priorities.

It sounds like Texas A&M will pay a good portion of it (assuming the Athletic Dept is not a separate entity). From the Washington Post -

"In A&M's case, Athletic Director Ross Bjork told reporters "unrestricted contributions" to A&M's 12th Man Foundation (a fan-funded group separate from the school) would shoulder the initial payment to Fisher ($19.4 million by January) and the athletic department budget would make adjustments to cover the rest over the long haul."

Further, they will have to pay his assistants, too Also from the Post -

"In a hilarious understatement, Bjork described Fisher's tab as "monumental." But to the rest of the industry, it's a massive windfall: A&M not only has to pay out Fisher's deal but also the contracts of his assistants, who will almost certainly not be retained by the next coach."

The AD is being more than a little disingenuous.

They are for all practical purposes setup like a "foundation" and basically are a "separate entity" from the university/school it' self. As such, they DO NOT have to publicly disclose pretty much anything. Including how it is funded or how the funds are spent. TRUST ME ..... the athletic dept will receive "donations" to offset ALL of the $$$$ needed to send Ol Jimbo (and any and all assistants) on down the road.

Batter up:
Texas A&M and Duke's Mike Elko have reached an agreement to make him the school's next head coach, sources told ESPN on Sunday.
