I haven't followed the changes, but it looks like major-league college football is now professional (with some amateur participation). Non-revenue sports, long special features of upscale private colleges, seem to be disappearing pretty fast.

yup. The settlement allows schools to pay up to 20.5 million per year on paying athletes.

I wonder how this will effect scholarships for swim, lacrosse, tennis, soccer and the rest of the non revenue sports?

UCF Athletic Director gave an interview yesterday and he said the major portion is going to the Revenue sports of Football and Basketball. He also said all the sport's will be getting a slice of the pie.
This is going to hurt the smaller less rich college sport's teams. A separation of the Haves and Have nots grows wider. Good or bad. Glad UCF got into the Big 12 conference when they did. |
