I heard this song today and made a mental note and thought, 'Hey! That's a pretty catchy song!' I'll have to check out this new artist.

Only to get home and realize that the song is ten years old.

Oh well, it's still pretty good, I think. I've still never seen a Sopranos episode, so I'm saving a lot of good stuff for later, evidently.

He'll be out of a job when he reaches puberty and his voice goes.

Haha, Keane has been around for a while now - that's his real voice.

If you like that sort of thing, check out Tired Pony - it's made up of the combined forces of Snow Patrol and some REM members. They have some good stuff.

They aren't well known - unless you're a rabid Snow Patrol fan (which I am) I don't know of anyone else who has heard of them.

I've been fortunate to see Gary Lightbody in some pretty small venues. He's a pretty amazing singer, but his real talent is getting even more amazing people to work with him. I once bought tickets for Snow Patrol's new show (they hadn't toured in 7 years because Lightbody was recovering from alcohol addiction and his father's alzheimer's diagnosis) and found out that they were actually opening for Ed Sheeran. So that became the concert where we saw "Ed Sheeran supporting Snow Patrol" because to us, they are bigger than he is (Lightbody's keyboardist, Johnny Daid, wrote a few songs for Sheeran and also for Taylor Swift - he just had some serious neck surgery so they are once again off tour for a while, which is a shame).

Wow neat. Does he/they tour in the US? Or are you overseas for these concerts?

Tired Pony, when they were together, did mostly US gigs. Snow Patrol did some US gigs this year, which is unusual for them (the smaller gigs they did were in UK bars).

The Killers did a pop up concert for my partner's work a while ago that I really wish I'd been able to go to - the disadvantages to working remotely are that you don't get to hear about these things till too late. My partner's boss used to be in the music industry and managed some pretty big groups, and does a lot of work for the charity War Child, and they did a remake of their song All These Things I've Done for that benefit. I was really sad to miss that .

But we get a LOT of good bands here - I did get to see the Killers at the Hard Rock here and that was a great venue for their show - it's a little smaller than the typical arena, and we got really good seats!

Benefit for War Child (Cold Play, Bono, The Killers)

I will say that I'd have been throwing a beer at Bono - he totally ruined that song!

I wouldn't say that I am exactly rabid ..... but I do have 4 of their albums.

If you like this music, get yourself a sirius/xm account and tune in to Sirius XMU (Their indie channel). You'll hear all this kind of stuff before any of it is very mainstream. Some of their blog radio people queue in on this stuff first. Great channel.

It so funny to read some of these. I too imagined that I was one of the few fans. Apparently, we are a demographic.
