Humble Greetings Earthlings.

Sometime lurker, first time poster at this here surf break. Much respect to the Elders and all members of the Solar Federation.

Going to see Yes (3/19) here in Charleston.

We'll be loading up the boards post show for a late night dash down South for dawn patrol @ Poles.

Then...wait for it...

Steve Hackett (3/20) @ Ponte Vedra Music Hall!

Feels like 1976 all over again for this old prog-fool. Mucho stoked. Hope to see you there. I'll be the one with the sh!t eatin' grin!

Nice greeting. Hello! I had to google Steve Hackett. ex-Genesis guitarist!

Wiki:
"Stephen Richard Hackett is an English musician, songwriter, singer, and producer who gained prominence as the lead guitarist of the progressive rock band Genesis from 1971 to 1977. Hackett contributed to six Genesis studio albums, three live albums, seven singles and one EP before he left to pursue a solo career."

Thanks for the assist Floridave. It sure would have been thoughtful of me to provide some reference point about who the hell Steve Hackett is. I sometimes forget that my level of geek-dom is patently absurd.

As noted Steve Hackett replaced Ant Phillips on guitar and was part of the golden era of 1970's Genesis. In my opinion, the band quite capably survived Peter Gabriel's exit but not Steve's. Commercially speaking, Genesis certainly thrived but they were playing a different brand of music after his departure. Steve would embark on a low-key but successful and much admired solo career.

Lately Hackett has been touring what he calls "Genesis Revisited" wherein he plays those songs which he co-wrote and performed on while with Genesis. I have seen that he has been performing this show in Europe for years but never thought he would bring that particular circus anywhere near my area. This latest incarnation is said to be a reconstruction of the Seconds Out album. Very cool.

The Yes show is also album themed. They are touring the Relayer l.p. which only the faithful will remember. I am particularly looking forward to "The Gates of Delirium". By that I mean both the song and the carefully crafted headspace that only extremely powerful central nervous stimulants can conjure!

Apparently both Yes and Hackett are performing a few East Coast dates on their way to Miami where they will embark on the "Cruise to the Edge" prog extravaganza.

Fingers are crossed that this virus doesn't derail the whole thing. Stay safe Brethren!

Sorry for the word salad. I typed that reply in with paragraphs in place but the message I now see is one big mish mash. When I attempt to "edit" my reply looks the way I had intended. WTF?

Any assistance about how to circumvent that issue going forward would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Dave, the editor settings in profile have disappeared, at least from mine. Any clues on how to get it back?

Thanks for the advice Dave but I am unable to find the editor settings you refer to. I see from Tom's post that in fact those options may have been moved or no longer exist.

As the Knoob at this here line up I appreciate all the help you old salts can provide. My Moms was a teacher so things like paragraphs or the lack thereof allow my neurosis to surface. (Hah!)

Interesting that the And Then There Were Three version of Genesis is reforming. Thanks for sharing that news. I'm sure they will draw well; but for my money I'd love to see a full-blown reunion. If only the lads could bury the hatchet they would make a lot of the early fans giddy with excitement.
