Waters for both Florida and Georgia are polluted nightmares.
...and nothing is being done about it. Rick Scott and Republicans passed a law that lets companies police them selves over pollution and our current governor and Republican legislature have let the law stand. Our current environmental situation isn't surprising at all. ------------------------- I was right. |

Only surprised it took this long.... no one seemed to have a problem with BP dumping tons of toxic chemicals into the Gulf to make the oil "disappear" at the time

"The bay, which once supplied more than 90 percent of Florida's oysters, has been on life support for nearly a decade due to drought, overharvesting and, according to Florida officials, excessive water use by Georgia."
The last time we were there and the bay was closed for oysters, they said they had oysters available... from Texas ------------------------- |

I got some from Direct the other weekend (Texas) and they were excellent; but I expect this closure to drive prices up even more.

They don't have the fresh water coming down to produce the kind of conditions oysters need to thrive. The battle for that water between Georgia and Florida continues with the stalemate favoring Georgia. The "let's get to work" easing of pollution restrictions couldn't have come at a worse time.
