OMG, once again, proof that they induct too many each year. The bottom of the barrel is being scraped hard. Dolly Parton, Carly Simon. Dionne Warrick and Lionel Ritchie are great artists, but, rock and roll? Most of the others are second rate, one step ahead of bar bands. Come on.

What you boys have never heard of the all time classic double live album , " Dolly Parton sings the Rolling Stones " ? ( It went Triple Platinum ! )

I have that album! My favorite cut is "The Girl with Faraway Eyes".

Brother G : Excellent reference , as that particular Stones tune has a VERY Country vibe to it , complete with Steel Guitars even . ( Dolly sings a mean " Country Honk " cover as well ! )

All this reminds me of this KLF song featuring the " First Lady of Country Music " Miss Tammy Wynette . ( House music meets Country ! ) *******

I feel like they are so hated by everyone they go out on these limbs. I think it's time for hip hop to have a hall of fame. This Eminem submission feels like remedial hip hop make up work. Eurythmics? Three hits at best. I think they put the New York Dolls in there because Rolling Stone credits them with inventing American punk. I get that. Devo I totally get but I have always been a big fan and even I know they are not everyone's rock and roll. Pat Benatar is an easy pick but where do you go if you induct Dionne Warwick, Carly Simon, Lionel Richie and Country super star (the white Oprah) Dolly? It's a music hall of fame at that point. I'm sure there's a need for that but is the rock n roll hall fame's place to appoint themselves as the judges of all music, even the music that is so clearly not rock n roll?

Dolly Parton shocked fans on Monday when she took her name out of the running to be inducted in this year's Rock & Roll Hall of Fame class and said "I don't feel that I have earned that right." NBC's Joe Fryer reports for TODAY.

She has too much integrity to allow herself to be inducted in an HoF that she has no business being in. Dolly Parton and Rock and Roll? Really? Too bad so many of the others don't. The recent inductees have been a bunch of B-listers. They should adopt baseball's methodology. There are many years that only one or two, or even zero, get in.

MC5 and the New York Dolls are the forefathers of the Alternative music scene, they should have been in 20 years ago.

I heard Blue Oyster Cult's version of Kick Out the Jams back in the 70's, didn't know it was a cover. Thanks for the link!
