An impressive collection of Mark Knopfler's guitars and amps went under the hammer this week, raking in more than £8.8 million ($11 million) - a chunk of which goes to charity.
The Dire Straits frontman offloaded 120 instruments, auctioned Wednesday (Jan. 31) at Christie's in London. https://www.msn.com/en-us/musi...at-auction/ar-BB1hEWD0 |

Not really surprised about the 1959 Les Paul, but the rest of the gear....daammmmm.
Nice stuff to be sure, but they bought the provenance. Sounds like the money is going to a good cause. ------------------------- If I should ever die, God forbid, let this be my epitaph: THE ONLY PROOF HE NEEDED FOR THE EXISTENCE OF GOD WAS MUSIC - KV |

A couple of those gibson super 400's will do nicely, thanks. One with a dakine bigsby whammy bar. please
Those custom spider resonators look real nice. The one he actually plays on those songs is a national steel with biscuit cone....he won't be selling that one. Still uses it on the road. I was very not allowed to touch it. Think "romeo and juliet" ------------------------- spindrift Edited: 02/14/2024 at 07:36 PM by spindrift |
