Trump announces 'very successful' air strikes on three nuclear sites in Iran

President Donald Trump announced Saturday evening that US military forces had dropped bombs on three Iranian nuclear facilities, ending a weeklong deliberation period over joining Israel's campaign against Tehran and thrusting the United States squarely into an escalating Middle East conflict.

LOL!

Trump's 'made-for-TV' security chiefs iced out from Iran inner circle

Donald Trump didn't even bother to conceal his contempt of Tulsi Gabbard's assessment of Iran's nuclear ambitions.

"She's wrong," the US president said on Friday, speaking to media en route to his Bedminster golf course in New Jersey

Mr Trump has assembled an unusual team for his White House and Cabinet, drawing on close loyalists, Fox News presenters and veterans of Capitol Hill.

But with tensions boiling over in the Middle East he has made the unusual move of sidelining two key national security figures, relying instead on old friends and military insiders

It means Ms Gabbard, the national intelligence director, and Pete Hegseth, the US defence secretary, both surprise picks who had impressed Mr Trump with lively performances on Fox News - have found themselves on the outside of discussions.

Iran probably knew from a group chat with Hegseth what was going down.

I think Beebie said "He will fight till the last 'merican is standing".

As noted above, Hegseth seems to be in a really odd situation. Trump went to great lengths to get him confirmed, so doesn't want to be seen firing him--but Hegseth seems reduced to officiating over ceremonies and serving as a public relations figure for the White House, which means being scripted. Various news and opinion sources seem in agreement.

Gabbard is supposed to present intelligence to the president, not personal opinions. Trump didn't like the intelligence and didn't want to hear it. In fact, he might not like any information from the intelligence agencies,

The National Security Council used to coordinate the cabinet departments and provide some professional review. Now, what's left of it seems to be restricted to forwarding presidential orders to the agencies and checking on compliance.

The White House boasted that there were no leaks. I'll just leave it there.

JD Vance, who made isolationism and America first his signature issues, was asked how he could support another undeclared war in the Middle East. He said that it's ok because it's Trump and every other president was dumb. He said every other president was dumb and he thinks Trump is the really big like brain that can crack this nut. I will give him this though, his eyeliner was spot on.

I found the exact quote from our esteemed and insightful VP:
>>"I certainly empathize with Americans who are exhausted after 25 years of foreign entanglements in the Middle East," he told Welker on Sunday. "I understand the concern, but the difference is that back then, we had dumb presidents, and now we have a president who actually knows how to accomplish America's national security objectives."<<

He thinks Trump "actually knows how to accomplish America's national security objectives?" Vance is along for the ride. He doesn't care if Trump is right or if Trump dies. Either way, he's next up in his calculations. He can lie like this and say outrageous bs and sit back and laugh at anyone who reports it while he accuses them of being fake news. As far as national security, they don't share intelligence with us because we have hacks running our country's intelligence. Germany, most of Europe, Canada, Japan and South Korea have been pushed aside and treated worse than our enemy Russia and this clown with eyeliner thinks all the other presidents were dumb but not trump?

That was quite a flipflop JD Eyeliner pulled there.

I like how Kegseth couldn't figure out where he should stand- ironically, a metaphor for his non-position in the admin.

but best of all was the look on Rubio's face. It was like he saw a ghost who shoved an ice cube up his ass

It looked like Rubio, Vance, and Kegsbreath were being held hostage at gun point.

So Bill Maher had a good question for his pro Trump Texas congressman. He said that this war should be a very clear line in the sand that Trump shouldn't cross. But MAGAts that don't have ideals are going to change their opinions to conform to Trumps. That's not a movement, it's a cult.

My Maga friend has been telling me over and over for at least 5 years that he votes Trump because he wants NO WARS. Hard stop. No exceptions. "I don't vote for wars" period.

The dude flip-flopped on that position so fast it would make The Roadrunner's head spin.

"well, this one is different...." blah blah blah

MAGA: It's most definitely a cult.

The Kremlin announced that they will come to Iran's aid, in a limited sense, not as treaty obligation but more as a fair weather friend. Iran has been supplying Russia with its shahed drones for their war against democracy in the Ukraine. Iran is stretched thin with a war against two very strong enemies, the U.S. and Israel. Russia has been at war with Ukraine and the U.S. by proxy for three years. The ayatollah is 86 and he wasn't invited to the negotiations in the weeks prior to this. One thing is clear, Israel's final solution for Iran is a regime change and a castrated military. The US, despite their stated limited goals of depriving Iran of a nuclear weapon, want regime change too. Iran, like any other country, will not accept their conquerors ideas of what's best and who's best to run their country once it looks like Gaza. The Iranians have a capable conventional military but they can only vandalize their region and shut down the oil traffic. It's something but it's not a winning strategy. I doubt Israel can murder their way to a friendly neighbor and I think tne US will see Iranian terrorism here on our own soil. This will be the license the U.S. uses to crush their country and begin WW3. Trump would love a war to boost his ratings and seize war time powers. It's a great opportunity for him.

Less than 20% of Americans can find Iran on a map.

I've been brushing up on my Middle East / Mediterranean mapping skills.

But I'm sure you're correct.
