Robert Redford was a true American icon.
You could go anywhere in the world and talk Robert Redford movies and they would tell you more than you knew.

In the 80's and 90's I was heavily into snow skiing (raced for college and later corporate cup) and spent a fair amount of time in Utah. Saw Robert Redford on the slopes more than once. He was a very good skier and would ski by himself or with a buddy or two. I never got the impression that he had a stick up his ass, but he was reserved. A friend who lived in Utah said he has ridden the chairlift with him and he was pretty much a normal dude. Wasn't a total Hollywood digme.

He was in so many great movies, but for me Redford's crowning movie will always be Jeremiah Johnson. A timeless movie that has aged well.

I'm thinking Redford's heaven is a clear crisp mountin morning with 2 feet of fresh Utah powder.
RIP.
