"We know from public reports that Flynn has a ton of criminal exposure, and yet he's pleading guilty to a relatively minor crime," Savannah Law School professor Andy Wright told my colleague Sean Illing. "I'm confident Flynn is singing like a bird to Mueller." (Eight other law professors made similar arguments to Illing.)

....

Not so sure: Preet Bharara, the former US attorney for the Southern District of New York who was fired by President Trump earlier this year.

One possibility, he suggests, is that Mueller doesn't have anything else on Flynn that might stand up in court: "People need to really consider the possibility that this might be it."

But Bharara also suggests another scenario: that Mueller is "holding back on other charges to which Michael Flynn will plead guilty if and when they form the basis of charging some other folks."

Of course he is singing like a bird. That Hap dude told us that way back in May in the "Trump is going down thread."

And to believe I scoffed at him back then.

For those who are interested in the facts, a prosecutor almost always brings the most serious charges against a cooperator like Flynn. If you want to build a case against a higher up, you damn sure don't want to paint one of your future star witnesses as a liar, which is exactly what Mueller did here.

Wrong, this is why you get multiple witnesses to cooperate and plenty of financial documents and emails. Flynn is just one piece of the pie. You're not very good at this lawyering thing. All criminals are liars, FYI. That is unless they fessed up immediately which none of them did.

Flynn is a self admitted and proved liar.

Any testimony from him is worthless!

ANY!

Flynn is a liar. Trump is a liar. Flynn was told to stay strong by Trump because Trump knew Flynn would be offered a plea deal in exchange for his testimony. If you are going to discount everything Flynn said because he pled guilty to lying to the FBI, you might want to consider that the FBI knew what the Truth was when they asked Flynn about his involvement with Kislyak. So Flynn's lies are his crime, the truth is Trump's crime.

"Donald Trump was just 11 minutes into his presidency when his choice for national security adviser, Michael Flynn, texted a former business partner to say an ambitious U.S. collaboration with Russia to build nuclear reactors in the Middle East was "good to go," according to a new whistleblower account.

As Trump delivered his inaugural address, says the unnamed whistleblower, Flynn directed Alex Copson, managing director of ACU Strategic Partners, to inform their business partners "to put things in place."

The whistleblower also says that Flynn assured Copson that U.S. sanctions on Russia that could block the nuclear project would be "ripped up" once Trump was inside the White House. "

My, my, that sounds like something that might be frowned upon.

Can't take anyone seriously who immediately discounts Breitbart, then turns around and sites Vox.

Compared to Breitbart?
No that's stupid. No comparison.
Don't even try.

May Mueller is waiting for the donnnald to attempt to pardon Flynn on this petty charge and ge the bloback and then deal with the political consequences..

Save the more serious shit for later - not to mention the non federal charges that the donnnald can't do shit about..

In any case, Donald's sphincter in is in full tweaking mode as as evident by his desperate attempts to distract the general public and throw some red meat to his base..

Flynn's choice of lawyers has been interesting. His first choice sought the acknowledge the exposure, admit wrongdoing and cooperate out of a prison sentence. Pretty standard in federal court where there is no discovery and the government can compel any witness to testify or offer any co conspirator plea deals to testify. But then he changed his mind. He started to see how life as a disgraced convicted felon might not be the retirement he had in mind. He fired his lawyers, hired a former federal prosecutor fox pundit with a failed book about prosecutorial over reach and went on scorched earth tour ending with a request to vacate his guilty plea. He paid his savings and retirement to failed writer who recently reinvented herself as a deep state conspiracy theorist who had proof from the inside. She used Flynn to raise her profile and now he will go to prison because she wanted to fight the case in the court of public opinion instead of the court room.

She has had her 15 minutes, and mostly at his expense, literally and figuratively. He is ultimately responsible for lying after cooperating and he knew what that would mean if he got caught. He gambled big with her and he will lose big with her.

Flynn is going to jail for lying, not sure how much more guilty or 'proved' liar one can be.
