No doubt things are good now employment wise. We had been steadily digging out of recesion for years. Obama missed some easy money not getting those corporate profits repatriated. Otherwise a pretty steady hand getting us out of an economic mess with the added handicap of two very expensive wars. Trump benefits from winding down wars, stable world stage, etc. really nothing happening to slow things down. A more conservative individual might think of socking some money away for a rainy day while economy is booming. Same thing with interest rates. When the economy inevitably takes a dive for whatever reason, would be nice to have the fed rate higher than 2.5% so they have some room to work. Trumps ego probably won't let him though. He wants all the Glory. Growth as fast as possible. When we hit the wall with no seatbelt he will probably be long gone and just blame the guy who got in the car 10 minutes before.

I agree, but it isn't going to happen without a shut down now. The dem house is far more inclined to spend boatloads of money than the GOP house, which was bad enough.

Ha yeah the fiscal conservative wing of your party is a little sparse these days. If we had any sort of competitive election system we would be ripe for avfiscal conservative, social liberal party.

I have almost lost hope that the existing system will cut back. Very disappointed in the GOP on that score.

The problem is wages. They are stagnant in the face of rising costs for housing, healthcare and education. Millions are slipping down the slope, trying to get a footing but unable to find purchase.

We need ranked choice voting a la Ireland. Would give our democracy a fighting chance. Sadly duopolies don't often vote to have more competition.

Ultimately we need to figure out a better measure to success than GDP. If everyone is miserable, addicted to opioids, in jail, etc what the hell good is a great GDP?

They are not stagnant. They have been going up at a healthy clip lately - highest growth in almost 10 years. If we can eliminate the downward wage pressure caused by illegal aliens, they will go up even faster.

Just over three percent, which barely reaches inflation. Not to mention that most of the rise is in low wage jobs, but you know this and purposely leave it out of your teetering to the right arguments.

Republicans gave a $1.5 trillion dollar - mostly unfunded - stimulus to prop up an already strong economy, I hope to God there is at least a small boost from it before the bill comes due.

3% is a bigger increase than any that we saw under Obama. And Obama employed more stimulus than Trump by a good measure. So it better than what we had.

Obama inherited the loss of 700,000 jobs a month. To compare the two at this stage is simply ridiculous.

You truly have become fish killer.

it's kind of hard to add jobs when the admin before obama fugged up everything almost beyond repair and sank us into economic depression. thankfully obama held steady and got us on the right track where thankfully the chief dotard can't even fug it up. tsk tsk, you know what Jesus says about liars, bootlick...

That's completely dishonest. Obama rescued capitalism with public money, and that's some sick reverse socialism.
Wages are flatter than my first girlfriend, and costs are rising like sea level.

Obama had 8 years!

Obama stated the new normal would have GDP no more than 2%!

Obama said a bunch of blue collar jobs would NEVER be coming back!

Bootlick!
