Originally posted by: wbsponger No doubt things are good now employment wise. We had been steadily digging out of recesion for years. Obama missed some easy money not getting those corporate profits repatriated. Otherwise a pretty steady hand getting us out of an economic mess with the added handicap of two very expensive wars. Trump benefits from winding down wars, stable world stage, etc. really nothing happening to slow things down. A more conservative individual might think of socking some money away for a rainy day while economy is booming. Same thing with interest rates. When the economy inevitably takes a dive for whatever reason, would be nice to have the fed rate higher than 2.5% so they have some room to work. Trumps ego probably won't let him though. He wants all the Glory. Growth as fast as possible. When we hit the wall with no seatbelt he will probably be long gone and just blame the guy who got in the car 10 minutes before.
I agree, but it isn't going to happen without a shut down now. The dem house is far more inclined to spend boatloads of money than the GOP house, which was bad enough.

Ha yeah the fiscal conservative wing of your party is a little sparse these days. If we had any sort of competitive election system we would be ripe for avfiscal conservative, social liberal party.

I have almost lost hope that the existing system will cut back. Very disappointed in the GOP on that score.

We need ranked choice voting a la Ireland. Would give our democracy a fighting chance. Sadly duopolies don't often vote to have more competition.

Ultimately we need to figure out a better measure to success than GDP. If everyone is miserable, addicted to opioids, in jail, etc what the hell good is a great GDP?
