It be like that. And it won't get any better in our lifetimes.

Prog response: there's a difference between weather and climate. But, anyway, who cares?

We were establishing who cares and why. Your position is like that of an old man on a credit card spree that believes he will be dead before that debt has to be paid.

90 degrees in February is odd no matter your political stripes. Do you agree?

When measured by cooling degree days (indicate warmth), MLB is currently 2x+ normal for the month and going to climb even more with no cold air in sight.

Not a daily February occurrence but it happens every few years. We Have reached the 90's in Florida in February many times in the past.

Climate is the average of weather. What do you call it when the average weather changes in one direction and doesn't change back?

Cooling degree what . We replaced an ancient air conditioner in 2017. We installed a 21 SEER straight cool. I looked at the ratio of HDD to CDD over the last 10 years and that was the most economical option. Used to be you'd only run a system like that along the coast south of Vero or Venice. We'll get burned in a winter like 2010 but winters like that are rare and our average winters over the last 10 years have been well warmer than in the records going back to the 1890s. Of course the big story on the east coast south of Cape Canaveral is the daily low temperatures during the summer. Huge regime shift about 20 years ago.

...And that area finally got clean test results for harmful algae. That will change with the first good rainfall they get.

Plant Hardiness zone maps need to be updated, the only silver lining is Coconut Palms can now be grown in our zone with less chance of dying. Maybe Breadfruit will be next, Citrus growers worry less about freezes (but they have bigger issues such as citrus greening)..amazing how fast the temps have seemed to rise over the decades and how few N/NW swell events are lighting up S. FL in the winter, used to be at least 5 or so a winter? now lucky to get 1...Brevard will soon be Zone 10b

Train's moving a lot faster than projected. The latest model updates indicate the high-end projections for this century (+2°) are now the low end, making some densely populated areas uninhabitable around 2050, resulting in a billion or more climate refugees. Some of the migrants from Central America might already be fleeing climate conditions that have displaced agricultural jobs, increased drought frequency and intensity. It isn't just a sea level rise issue. Look how quickly algae can decimate massive ecosystems and economies. "doom and gloom"

Persistent deeper ridging over the western Atlantic. Makes mid latitude cyclones track further west on average. Bad for swells. Keeps our weather warmer with more maritime influence and warmer sea surface temps tempering that maritime air even more. That's why we've seen more "record warm daily minimums" than any other kind of record temperature over the last 10 years. Having a damned hard time getting our "Gulf Beauty" plum to set fruit. Can't even manage 150 chill hours and we live on the cold side of the lagoon. But the orchids, bananas, and papayas are all happy. Only plant that got pissed in the last year was our mimosa lawn. August, September, October, November, and December were the driest on record and the lawn went dormant. But the two big rains we've had in the last 4 weeks woke it up and it is beautiful again. That drought would have killed un-irrigated St. Augustine.
