You know when you need an "immediate solution"? When you ignore the problem until you're in immediate danger.

can't see past the lunacy of what Venice has done..... What exactly has Venice done??? What lunacy other than your own is evident??? 500 years ago they built a city in a flood zone?? That for 500 years the land has been sinking as a part of natural geological progression??? Do you actually think they have done nothing over the last 500 years until this very second and then in a moment of madness while standing knee deep in water voted to not buy electric buses?? WG.. liken this to New Orleans with a hurricane bearing down on them and all the levees are leaking. The city council meets and the Green party is there yelling that they need to pass a carbon tax. They do not pass a carbon tax but vote to spend the money on immediately building higher levees... Then the greens hit the internets calling what they did 'Lunacy'....

Um, it didn't flood until after they rejected the climate stuff.

COLE: Um, it didn't flood until after they rejected the climate stuff.... Yep, Technically correct... But laughably doesn't understand anything. IF, during Hurricane Katrina, at the height of the storm there was a New Orleans city council, and the Green party called for a vote saying, 'Lets buy Electric buses and ban plastics' and the city council decided to do emergency repairs on the levees and pumps instead BECAUSE The electric buses would have taken a year to arrive and evacuees would have died of thirst because they wouldn't have thousands of cases of plastic water bottles available. It would indeed be technically correct to say that the city didn't flood until they voted down the electric buses.

It was a rain storm, not a cat 3 hurricane.

It flooded again at high tide yesterday.

And you do understand that Venice sits in a lagoon and that lagoon is open to the Adriatic Sea?

You also do realize that on top of it being open to the Adriatic Sea it rained there for two weeks straight?!?!

Furthermore Venice is built on MUD!

It's sinking into that mud...and has been since it was built!

The problems with Venice have NOTHING to do with the climate change hoax....PERIOD!

They need to finish the levy system they started long ago and HAVE NOT FINISHED!

Spending money on the climate change hoax is an extreme waste as that money should have gone to the levy system!

MORONS!

COLE: .And you do understand that Venice sits in a lagoon and that lagoon is open to the Adriatic Sea...... Floods have been a part of life in Venice since its founding. In the 5th century, refugees who were fleeing from invaders came to this collection of boggy islands off of the mainland. In order to build, they drove a huge number of heavy wooden piles down into the mud to create a foundation. A CENTURY AGO, St. Mark's Square, the lowest point in Venice, flooded about nine times a year..... AND The European Plate is SINKING in the area where Venice was built. AND Venice was built in Mud, that mud is compressing under the weight of the buildings. AND Ground water was sucked out from under Venice increasing the speed of the land sinking into the sea. AND Waves from cruise ships and motorized boats have quickly eroded the centuries old footings on the buildings. Rain and wind (weather events not climate change) combined with a high tide cause Venice to flood. Yes it flooded again at high tide yesterday, just like it has for CENTURIES when the wind and rain combine with large high tides. Banning Plastic bottles and buying electric buses WILL DO NOTHING toward alleviating Venice's flooding problems.

1 in 5 Americans believes the way nobodyelse does about climate change and he's still trying to lecture! Those individuals are clearly devoid of the ability to reason yet here they are, doing anything they can to rationalize their bizarre belief system.

Green, bizarrely still confusing the weather with climate change.... Rain and wind are weather phenomena NOT CLIMATE CHANGE. When those two things (Rain and wind) combine with a large high tide, Venice floods. I think that one in five Americans may have reading comprehension problems or be illiterate like you are but just have a second grader explain to you the difference between rain, wind and climate change.

Jesus dude, for hundreds of years it flooded an average of 10 times a year, now it floods 100 times a year. Weather doesn't have anything to do with it.

I think Cole made it simple enough that he expects you would understand. Weather is the event, climate is the trend.

Weather is the event, 500 years of sinking into mud is the trend. READ any historical article about Venice and see the trend of it sinking. See the trend of floods whenever the rain, winds and Tides coincide. That you guys are trying to make this into a story about Climate change is Bizarre. It is about modernization as ground water is sucked out from under Venice, as motorized boats and ships wakes wash the footings out from under buildings. It is about 15'000 year old geologic forces. Get your noses out of your political agenda and READ some history about the city. And then tell us HOW banning plastics by the Venice city council will keep Venice from flooding. Then figure out how Venice' buying Electric buses will help keep Venice from flooding.

My wife is from Friuli-Venezia Giulia. Aqua alta doesn't just effect Venice, and sea level rise will exacerbate the effect. It's not rocket science.

Aqua alta doesn't just effect Venice.... tell us HOW banning plastics by the Venice city council will keep the coasts of Friuli-Venezia Giulia from flooding. AND tell us how Venice' buying Electric buses will help keep Friuli-Venezia Giulia lowlands from flooding. Then explain how Venice refusing to ban plastics and refusing to buy electric buses is 'Lunacy'... look at the geography of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, It's right down the street from Venice at the end of the Adriatic Sea. Any Rain in in three or four countries draining into the Adriatic combined with wind blowing North, up the Adriatic, is going to pile water up (flood) along that whole bottleneck. Again, compare this to New Orleans, New Orleans has Levees, it floods when the levees fail. Venice has NO LEVEES, they are wide open to the Adriatic. Spending money on Electric buses that will be operating in knee deep water is Lunacy. Lunatics BELIEVE that the NO vote actually caused this flooding. They see immediate Cause and effect. The council voted NO, it then flooded, ergo the NO vote cause the flooding... First Spend the money on Building Levees to keep out the Ocean, and only then buy electric buses is the sane move. BUT only sane people can recognize sanity, Lunatics by definition are exempt from sane plans of action.

Turns out the failure to address the future coupled with an utter lack of leadership means other countries look to our rival China, does not have oil complained committed to a false narrative attacking science. We are leaving the world behind and the world is leaving us behind. This has been a costly mistake.

The U.S. contributed 21.2% of total global economic output in 1970. This remained consistent until the year 2000. In every year since, with one exception, America's percentage of the world's economic output has declined. In 2015, the U.S. contributed 16.7% of the world's economy. By 2025, this is expected to fall to 14.9%. Equally noteworthy is the exceptional rise in China's economy. In 1970, China was responsible for a mere 4.1% of the total. This rose to 15.6% in 2015. In 2025, China's contribution to the global economy is projected to be 17.2%. Since 1990, China's percentage of total global output has risen every year with one exception (1998), when it fell by one percent. The vertical black-dotted line on the chart denotes the year (2018) that China's economic contribution is projected to surpass the U.S..... SO Nothing to do with TRUMP....
