Thomas Friedman is a terrific writer.
What we see now is a result of cheney/ chumpfsfeld think. Bomb with shock and awe, spearhead a light, unsustainable force, declare victory.....and leave it to rot. They dumped all over schwarzkopf and powell (aka: war winners) for doubting them. They ignored the powell doctrine, learned painfully in 'nam: Go big...or don't go at all. You go in with massive, crushing force and overwhelming numbers, or don't waste our time. The results in iraq and chumpfganistan speak for themselves They're more conscious of their media image now. Sure they are....until they start machine gunning gymnasiums full of little girls....again For dancing to a boombox Next foolish overconfident country up to bat in the endless afghan revolving door circus: China! ------------------------- It's a democratic hoax Edited: 08/17/2021 at 10:42 AM by nukeh2o |

It's delusional to think that this was not going to end like this under any circumstance - regardless who is/was president..
Truly a 'Flawed concept'.. We NEVER were going to change their culture or their ways - especally the way we went about it.. The longer we stay anywhere, and the more locals are associated with us during our 'stay', the worse the problem will be when we pull out.. At this point literally generations of them have worked with us, and are 'at risk' for reperations and revenge when we leave.. At this point I don't even see the UN responding when the atrocities get full steam ahead.. What re we going to do? 'Sanction' them - as if they give a flying fuck.. Go back over there? WTF!!! "There will be blood" - take it to the bank... It has started already.. Remember, "Occuping armies have no rights - only responsibilities" If we really didn't want it to end like this, we should not have gone there in the first place - that simple..
