It is so much easier to plan for success than for failure. Nobody ever wants to talk about what will happen if their "best laid plans" shit the bed.

Let's post and talk about what you think about the "bad things" to come. Sorry, but you might as well get-it-off-of-your-chests and get used to the New World that issoon to be here.

>> Recent Fed figures say that the unemployment rate could get to 32% (47 million). It always very "hopeful" to think about the "recovery" but, just how big and soon do you think we will recover? I'm pretty sure that the eventual recovery will not start as soon as many may hope, and that some of the newly unemployed will never again have a job! The current American "two job" household will now be limited to only "one" job! "Disposable income" will be a thing of the past for many years to come.

Oh and, , , , COVID-19 is going to get really bad here, just as it has in Italy, et al. But, in the "Third World" it is going to become "Biblical". So, so, many of these areas, countries, regions, etc. currently depend very heavily on aid from the Western World. Now, the "developed" world will have no "aid" to spare. How many hundreds of millions will die?

My fear, and I hope it's unfounded, is that the virus is able to mutate such that having contracted it and recovered doesn't impart broad immunity, and this becomes an open ended peril we face.
Something like the annual flu season except with higher mortality.

The Central African Republic (CAR) has only three ventilators for a population of five million, leaving the country facing a difficult battle against coronavirus.
some countries are going to have massive death tolls from this

Which "brick and mortar" retail chains are "as good as gone"?

Rusty, yes, we really have no choice but to accept that this Mother will mutate and keep on coming back. We might have to accept that COVID-19 is here to do Thanos's work. An investment into a company that makes body bags might be a good bet.

it has already mutated into at least 8 different strains so far. no real difference between them in regards to transmission and mortality. i also read in a report that it doesnt mutate as fast as the flu. regardless, judging by southern hemi and equatorial spread, i have serious doubts about this being seasonal. i also believe it is here to stay

This aint our 1st rodeo and this too shall pass. I love the last line in this write-up about the Spanish Flu (which was a good read....by the way) "those that were infected either died or developed immunity" https://www.history.com/topics/world-war-i/1918-flu-pandemic

OBX, yes "developed immunity" but, they were immune to only that specific strain!

Otherwise, why do you think that we develop "new" vaccines every year? Because the "flu" you had last year has mutated and your immunities from last year will not help you and, as such, you do get the flu again, and again, and again.

I wish that I had saved the link but, about a month ago I read an article about how our bodies/immune systems are used to, and otherwise "familiar" with, the "flu" corona virus that we routinely get. It's been with us for thousands of years. But, this "New" corona virus is "unknown" to our bodies/immune systems and, as such, we basically have NO "natural" immunities to it.

The really, really, bad thing about all this is that the vaccine that will be ready "in 12 to 18 months" might be useless to the mutated strain that is then circulating!

Maybe the virus is actually the earth's immune response to us.

CDC head finally speaks, says this virus is here to stay. Learning the transmission rate is about 3x greater than flu, expected to move into southern hemi as we approach our summer, return here in the fall:

Interesting. RT is pushing the narrative in its western outlets that Covid19 is a nothingburger and leftist globalists are Nazis that are using it as an excuse to control and abuse the populations and bring down right wing leaders Trump, Bolsonaro, Orban, etc... Meanwhile, Vlad is using a massive quarantine hammer to contro the spread in Russia. You should suspect that you have a mistaken view of a situation if RT.com is parroting your position.

What is the expected end game by people (pretty much the entire GOP as voice by their medal of freedom mouthpiece Rush Limbaugh) that are playing this as nothing more than a bad cold and blocking any real attempts to control the spread? They say that they are trying to save the economy from draconian short term control measures. But what do they expect to happen to the economy 4-6 weeks down the road when the ICUs are full? Yeah, this thing has a 98% survival rate and probably up to 20% get a bit of a sniffle. That is why it is pretty insidious. It travels like a mild cold but mild colds are faaaarrrrrrr less likely to put somebody in ICU or kill them. What are you guys planning to do when the ICUs are full?

Unless, and until, a vaccine(s) is developed (how many strains?) this crap aint going nowhere. Eventually, life (and death) must go on. This shit is really going to "thin the herd" over the next 36 months.

Some COVID test kits delivered to UK have been found to be contaminated... with COVID.

Ain't that a kick in the nuts?
