this thread as aged very well, its as stupid as trump stupid lol

its going to get worse for Brevard. Think about it. Where do the orlando people go to the beach on the weekends? Cocoa Beach. Where do the people in Kissimmee go to the beach? Indialantic. This happens every week.

The problem is that the news isn't good. You are presenting it as such when it doesn't match reality. Infections are way up, hospitalizations are way up, and deaths are way up in our state.

My concern is over the how many actual people die, have long term health issues, and even permanent issues in some cases because of this virus. Hard numbers, actual individual lives. That is exactly what any decent human being should be concerned about.

That's the problem - infections/deaths are down in some ares of the US, but skyrocketing in other areas. Snipe's graph smooths that out - there is more context in that image, but one has to understand stats - and we know numbers/math are def not a strong suit for dotards.

12,624 new cases today / 141 more in Brevard

35 more deaths. This week tallied the most deaths in Florida for the entire pandemic.

227 New Hospitalizations

8,085 people are currently in Florida hospitals with Covid-19 (18,498 since the beginning)

Is it over yet?

Last week we lost 38 people to rabies in Florida. EDIT: we did not lose 38 people to rabies in Florida last week.

Last year, Florida lost 2,703 people to the flu. That means we averaged 52 deaths per week for flu over the course of the entire year.

Cases of human rabies cases in the United States are rare, with only 1 to 3 cases reported annually. Twenty-five cases of human rabies have been reported in the United States in the past decade (2009-2018). Seven of these infections were acquired outside of the U.S. and its territories.

CDC: "The number of rabies-related human deaths in the United States declined during the twentieth century, from more than 100 annually in the early 1900's to just one or two per year since 1960. This decline can be attributed to successful pet vaccination and animal control programs, public health surveillance and testing, and availability of post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) for rabies." https://www.cdc.gov/rabies/location/usa/index.html

The link was to Florida's Weekly Morbidity Report, not the mortality report.

I was wrong on the rabies claim and went back to edit the posts.

Thanks for keeping me honest.

Now, on the "well, what about this other disease" side of the argument, , , , ,

I have a friend who is on the "Trump can do no wrong, the CDC lies, the WHO lies, Fauci Lies" wagon. They are pretty solidly on the COVID is "no big deal" side of the equation.

Well, the other day, after wearing out the "no worse than the flu argument" they brought up Tuberculosis (TB). Well, sure, TB killed 1.5 million people last year and nobody is too upset about that, etc., etc., etc.,,,,, , , . Hmmmmm, , , , ya, TB is not anything we want to get and that is for sure. BUT, , , , , ! Only 8920 people in the USA got TB last year, and the latest "death number" I could readily find was 515 people died in 2017 from TB in the USA. I am not concerned at all with how many people died in BFE!!
