No, you were talking about ICU beds, I was talking about "just in time" management vs. planned economies in healthcare. Cuba is the world leader in medical doctors per capita the last time I checked, and they are world renowned for vaccine development. Certainly you don't think Gilead Sciences is the only pharma outfit who are trying to develop Covid vaccines?
Cuba's medical system sucks. Horrible. No, many companies are trying to develop vaccines. I own shares in several of them. To the best of my knowledge, Gilead is not trying to develop a vaccine, however.

The American healthcare system sucks if you lose your job and healthcare coverage.

Whether or not coronavirus is worse that the flu, really depends on how old you are.

Cumulatively, coronavirus hospitalizations are at 102.5 per 100,000 people. The flu is at 68 hospitalizations per 100,000 people.

The only difference between the graphs is that with flu, young kids are hit almost as hard as old people. With Coronavirus, we are seeing 306.7 hospitalizations per 100,000 people for people of 65 years old+ and in the graph for flu, we have around 93 hospitalizations per 100,000 people for kids 0-4 years old and 180+ hospitalizations per 100,000 people in people over 65 years old.

We don't close schools for flu and we don't wear masks for flu.

That isn't per case. That is per capita annual total for flu and year to date for Covid 19. It takes 60 million flu infections to hit that per capita rate. How many Covid infections has it taken to get a 100/100000 cumulative rate in 6 months? What then will the cumulative rate be if Covid infections are allowed to become as prevalent as the flu?

How many infections have occurred to generate that per capita number?
The flu is at 68 hospitalizations per 100,000 people.

We don't close schools for flu and we don't wear masks for flu.
Why are you presenting the cumulative per capita number without a time component and also ignoring the per infection rates of hospitalization and death?

Interactive flu hospitalizations chart.

Interactive COVID hospitalization chart.

Honestly, new cases don't interest me all that much. I care how many people are being hospitalized and dying.

Time component is irrelevant to his point (if you get the flu/covid, these are your chances of having to go to a hospital). No one knows the per infection rate at this point.

"Honestly, new cases don't interest me all that much"

They appear to interest Governors and municipalities as they reign in reopening.

Per case is the relevant number and you repeatedly refuse to provide it. Covid-19 in 4 months has surpassed the per capita hospitalization rate for annual flu totals. How many cases were needed to achieve that?

Ya, factual numbers are just plain Hateful and are made up by people who hate America! LOL, LOL, LOL!

The "flu" is pretty bad in its own right but, , , , COVID-19 has racked up some pretty horrible numbers in just 5 months (Feb - Jun). AND, make no doubts about it, , , , we are still in the first "phase" of COVID-19.

No. That is the cumulative fraction of the population that has been hospitalized so far. It is not a per case count.
No one knows the per infection rate at this point.
So why did you state that "if you get the flu/covid, these are your chances of having to go to the hospital"?

You see that I am linking straight from the CDC's weekly report and posting what they think is the relevant information. If you are saying that you have a better source, then by all means post it.

I ask again. It takes ~60 million flu infections to put 68/100,000 of the population at large in the hospital in a year. How many Covid-19 infections has it taken since January 1 to put 100/100,000 of the population at large in the hospital and kill >100,000 people?

You are making an incorrect assertion that Covid-19 is no more virulent than the flu by conflating the per infection rate of hospitalization with the cumulative per capita rates.

Don't bother with sniper. His mind is made up. He'll find any link anywhere on the internet and try to make it seem like he is right.

If you are under 65 years old, then the flu is much more virulent.

You can't discern that from the CDC per capita numbers that you linked. You have to look at the per case rates to make that determination. You are assuming that the number of people that have had Covid-19 so far is comparable to the number of people that get the flu in a year. Do you have a basis for that assumption?

"Look, there's no law against ignorance. It's not illegal to have opinions that are wrong," Hanks said. "But there is a darkness on the edge of town here folks, and ... let's not confuse the fact: It's killing people. ... Yeah, that's right. It's killing people.

"And you can say, 'Well, traffic accidents kill an awful lot of people too.' A traffic accident happened because a lot of drivers aren't doing their part. ... I don't know how common sense has somehow been put in question."

You said "virulent".

vir-u-lent
adjective
1.(of a disease or poison) extremely severe or harmful in its effects.

2. bitterly hostile.

Is that the word you meant to use?
