The SCOTUS are appointed for life. The "disappointment" of the right for their appointees is a function of that. They don't want the Court packed with new judges any more than most. They want to project an image that the law supersedes politics and they are above the fray. They simply cannot be counted on for ideological consistency or loyalty.

Every issue we care about is at stake: abortion rights, campaign finance reform, voting rights, workers' rights, health care, LGBTQ rights, climate change, environmental rights, gun safety and more..... more than enough reasons to break precedence...
