Yikes
Now the Texas politicians are counting on the dreaded US government to bail out the consumers. Think twice about deregulation and leaving the Union. Edited: 02/21/2021 at 05:37 PM by theglide |

They want to secede from their past anti government smack talk.

This is a good example of why some common use commodities and services need to have some regulation over price. quality and safety.
$16,000 for month's of electricity for a private home is obscene. I also don't want to fly on an airline that has no maintenance regulations to follow, nor eat food that doesn't have cleanliness and safety regulations. ------------------------- If I should ever die, God forbid, let this be my epitaph: THE ONLY PROOF HE NEEDED FOR THE EXISTENCE OF GOD WAS MUSIC - KV Edited: 02/22/2021 at 07:13 AM by Bamboo |

Of all things, the electric power utilities should be owned by the people in common and operated at cost for the benefit of everyone.
I recently learned that citizens in the USA experience more power outages (time spent without power) than any other developed country. Privatized, deregulated, and maintenance deferred spells trouble for an essential service. ------------------------- Capitalism is based on the ridiculous notion that you can enjoy limitless growth in a closed, finite system. Those Texans assumed the risks they were deliberately kept in the dark over. It's like coyote killer Texas Rick said, Texans would rather die of exposure and thirst than suffer the added expense of federal regulations to winterize their grid. Those Texans are so tough and independent. They have the world's fifth largest economy based heavily on energy and they were in the dark with zero degrees and plenty of other people to blame.

I can tell Tpap watched Tucker this week and bought his bullshit without bothering to question it.
Let's see, Texas is on their own power grid so they don't have to fall under federal regulation and oversight (the only state in the country I believe). They knew they had a problem a decade ago when the same thing happened to a lesser degree. They did nothing about their shitty power infrastructure because power companies didn't want to pay to do it despite knowing that there was a problem. In short, power grids not adhering to national standards with a known problem that the companies refused to spend the money on to fix (then all the following fuckery after the outage from them to boot). Sure though, blame the wind turbines that are responsible for only 25% of their power. |

nice Riddles! You can tell when the Qotards are fed their lies. They all start mindlessly yapping about their soul-less $hit cause.
So the power companies grease the corrupt QOP legislators and the people of TX run the risk of calamity? Hey sounds like here! |

They cut taxes down to nothing, then the place falls apart due to lack of funds. The same thing is happening in Florida. The Mosquito Lagoon is the prime example.

This is where Rick Scott can come in and teach them that you can't lower taxes and run your state so you transfer them to ad valorem and claim you lowered taxes. Then you claim you made the lower budget more efficient. All those lies work on republicans.

I don't know, letting the airline industry police themselves seems to be working out pretty well. Perhaps the zero regulation people are on to something.
