I originally come from a multi-cultural, multi-religious country so I respect everyones right to their own religious beliefs - but some of these are way more than just wierd.. Full disclosure, I have close relatives that are evangelicals - sister that had the cove being one... Works at an anti abortion place.. Have others (non-evangs) that donate much of their time to social work and similar issues

As a 'born/raised' catholic wasn't never much of a beleiver in the old book of jewish fairy tales.. Not that the stories 'teach a lesson'.. Felt more creedence in the New Testament's teachings etc.. I'm def not 'practicing', but some core beliefs are still down in there

The trouble with the christians is that they very much want to establish a state religion and they think they have some divine right to do so and to persecute others.
They've also twisted it around so they can use it to justify the very behaviors their own books denounced in terms of selfishness, greed, and hate.

Organized religion in general, with the money raising part, and especially the 'tele' type, has gove way overboard and made it no more that a laughing act.. Know that's what turned me off personally.. Remember the Jim & Tammy Faye BS show in the ?late 70's & '80's.. I thought that shit show was finally the start of the end, but it was a sneak preview of things to come..

Many of the ministers can't find a real job if was handed to them, then 'discover religion' as a 'profession' and way to make a 'decent' living living leaching off of the flock..

The flock's gulliability to lap up the BS political talk and pro Israel propaganda being spewed from the pulpit closed the door for 'going to church' for me.. Definitely was not going to sit there and be fed BS - time to walk out.. Again, a total inability for indepedant critical thought.. Wonder why democrats stop going to church? Saw a stat a couple days ago saying attendance went down significantly - by more than 50% 75%? And the BS talk is not just going on in 'evangelical' churches, it's everywhere - including multi-denominational etc ..
