They want private entities to regulate themselves but also not be liable for their mistakes. Then they say the government should have been regulating if something hits them personally. Kind of like wanting to shut down the EPA until Lake Okeechobee is one big fetid cyanobacteria bloom or a phosphate gyp stack fails in some spectacular fashion. Then they want to know where was the government. So we have them here wanting in bold font for the government to regulate an industry to protect a commodity. I wonder if they would support the massive fines that would be needed to make the regulation enforceable of the taxes that would need to be collected to fund the enforcement agency. Shouldn't market forces give the oil company sufficient incentive to regulate itself.
