And it is obvious that neither he nor you understand how ocean transportation and steamship lines operate.

You think American President Lines, Mitsui OSK, Yang-Ming or COSCO is going to re-route their containerships thru the expensive Panama Canal to make unscheduled port calls in FLA where many have zero infrastructure or administrative support because some political hack says so? Let's extrapolate this. A ship diverts from Long Beach, CA - where most of the cargo is destined - thru the Panama Canal to Miami. The containers are offloaded. Then what? Railed or trucked back to Southern California? What happens to the containership that costs $10,000 per day to operate when it's waiting to go back & forth thru the Panama Canal? It has to pick up cargo from Long Beach and then go back to East Asia to repeat the process. This is a beyond stupid idea that shows neither of you have a clue how things really work.

I understand exactly how it works. You obviously don't have the foggiest. Florida already is getting more ships. Tampa's container volume is up 40% over the last year, for example.

In any event, inflation is raging and it is Dementia Joe's fault.

... And it has zero impact on West Coast ports.

Florida ports compete against each other: there is no "Florida Ports Authority". Therefore, TPA sees that there aren't any cruise ships on the horizon, so they lower freight rates on boxes and salvage some revenue.

A big glaring number is 57,000.

That's the number of twenty foot containers (TEUs) moved in the Port of Tampa last year.

Port of Miami 1 million TEUs.

Port of Long Beach (CA) 8 million TEUs.

Big fucking whoop that TPA is up 40%.

That's a grain of sand on the big beach of ocean transportation.

Looking like the foggiest fog has lifted.

Good stuff mate. Darn those pesky ol' facts, huh chumpfsheep
Curious the capacity of jax or savannah.
The price to bring all this crap to the east coast rather than deal with removing impediments and shake shit up on the west coast....
auntie em, auntie em: the sky is falling!
Or: the chumpfdirt media and their hysterical sheep could calm down as measures to solve the problems take effect and changes take place quickly
Yes Virginia: there will be a christmas
