From Politico:
>> She uses the methods of conservative "originalists" and "textualists" paying close attention to the "original public meaning" of texts. But she refuses to be labelled or ideological about her methods, which is much closer to the actual practice of current justices. Perhaps Jackson's great care and transparency in adjudicating explains why she has been endorsed by a wide array of voices, including the Fraternal Order of Police and conservative retired Judges Thomas Griffith, J. Michael Luttig and David Levi. She is impartial and utterly in the mainstream of American jurisprudence. With nearly 600 trial court opinions she was reversed or vacated only 14 times, well below judicial averages, according to the Alliance for Justice.

And yet this brilliant, even-handed jurist who has ruled for and against presidents and prosecutors was cast as a soft-on-crime, child-predator-enabling, critical-race-theory believing, left-wing activist by the GOP's most arch political performers.

This is dangerous character assassination. In particular, the child-predator-enabler mythology has been thoroughly debunked, including in the conservative National Review. Most telling, Republicans have voted to confirm conservative judicial nominees that engaged in the same widespread judicial practice of departing downward from child pornography sentencing guidelines that Jackson was excoriated for.

Again, these hearings provided Republicans an opportunity to confirm a candidate that extolls many of the values and practices that they claim to cherish as well as an opportunity to exercise the color-blindness they claim. Instead, they offered the disturbing optics of mainly southern, white men lecturing, interrupting and sometimes yelling at a gracious, poised Black woman.

If no Republicans vote to confirm this eminently qualified Black female to the highest Court, it will send a searing message about what the GOP has become.<<

Cruz, Lady L, and Hawley all looked like complete douchebags up there. Don't vote for douchebags folks.

Asking questions is bad form to your ilk, isn't it? We are not on board with mindlessness being a good thing, however.

Especially when they have already voted to seat her before.

Biden is an idiot. Why would he announce he is going to nominate a black woman? Dumb ass should have nominated her, and then said 'plus she's black". You guys should be embarrassed you were tricked into voting for a old man with dementia.

No they didn't. And it was a different court, where she could do less damage. So, I would let you be a matress tester. But I wouldn't let you do anything that requires thinking because you would screw that up.

There was a direct comparison to another judge, a Republican appointed federal judge, who did the same downward departure on a minimum mandatory internet child porn cases. Each count for each image has a min man. If some pedophile downloads 17 images in ten minutes, each charge could put him in prison for anywhere between 5 and 15 years each. From a proportionality analysis, that's just not justice. Casting the woman as soft on crime, or pedophiles makes this woman a pizzagate target by the right wing conspiracy q bots that have now become mainstreamed by the GOP.

If you were being honest, you'd admit that no matter who Biden nominated, the GOP would manufacture a reason to oppose them. In fact, if they controlled the Senate, they would block an appointment entirely until they either lose the Senate or win the White House.

That's a derangement of the constitution, but it's the new anti-democratic pro-authoritarian policy of the right wing.

Watching Ted Cruz insinuating her support for CRT by her proximity to children's school was like watching him read green eggs and ham. He capped off his phony question with his proclamation that she wanted to interrupt, trespassed on other senators' time and retreated to consult his Twitter feed to see if he was trending. He's not just an embarrassment to your party, he's just an embarrassment. Even more disingenuous was Lady G, who approved this woman for current spot. It's always a bad showing by both parties for every SCOTUS nomination but the GOP has descended to depths never seen before and this was no exception.

Not true at all. If Biden nominated someone worth a damn, a Scalia type, they'd be on board. This woman, or whatever she is, is not worth a damn. When the dems oppose our nominees is that pro-authoritarian policy too? Or does that just go one way?

What did the American Bar Association give her and how did that compare to the last Justice confirmed?

ABA is a prog organization and is no more trustworthy than the NYT, CNN or Cole. Like Cole, the ABA is a joke.

She will be confirmed, and depending on how ill poor Clarence is, there just might be another opening.

Me thinks T-fap as a low ABA rating. lol
