Mon, March 28, 2022, 12:08 PM By Jan Wolfe WASHINGTON (Reuters) -A U.S. judge ruled on Monday that former President Donald Trump "more likely than not" committed a felony by trying to pressure his vice president to obstruct Congress and overturn his election defeat on Jan. 6, 2021. The assertion was in a ruling that found the House of Representatives committee probing the deadly attack on the U.S. Capitol has a right to see emails written to Trump by one of his then-lawyers, John Eastman. The judge said that Trump's plan to overturn his defeat amounted to a "coup." "The Court finds it more likely than not that President Trump corruptly attempted to obstruct the Joint Session of Congress on January 6, 2021," U.S. District Judge David Carter in Los Angeles said in a written decision. ------------------------- Dora Hates You |

The determination came in a ruling ordering the conservative lawyer and Trump ally John Eastman to turn over more than 100 emails to the House Select Committee investigating the January 6 Capitol riot.
Eastman, who has resisted cooperating with the January 6 committee, argued that his and Trump's plan to halt the election certification process was "legally justified" because it was "grounded on a good faith interpretation of the Constitution," US District Judge David Carter said. "But 'ignorance of the law is no excuse,' and believing the Electoral Count Act was unconstitutional did not give President Trump license to violate it," he continued. "Disagreeing with the law entitled President Trump to seek a remedy in court, not to disrupt a constitutionally-mandated process." ------------------------- GOP: Gaslight Obstruct Project |

udge Carter, a Bill Clinton appointee, recently made headlines by ordering the city and county of Los Angeles to house every homeless person, citing "systemic racism" in his ruling. He took the unusual step of going to homeless sites himself to investigate. His order was overturned by the liberal Ninth Circuit, citing "extensive error."
Oh boy. Dude is a whack job.
