CNN's Jim Sciutto and Other Liberals Push Preposterous Position on Pelosi Being Barred From Communion
By Nick Arama | May 22, 2022 11:30 AM ET

As we reported on Friday, San Francisco Catholic Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone announced that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi would be banned from receiving Holy Communion because of her involvement in promoting abortion. Promoting or facilitating abortion is considered a grave mortal sin in the Church. You are not supposed to receive Communion when your soul is in a state of sin, or that is considered a further sin. She would be allowed to receive again if she publicly renounced her position. Banning her until she resolves the issue is considered helping her not continue to sin.

All of that is fully consistent with Church catechism and the Church's position on abortion.

Pelosi is not only advocating and worked to facilitate abortion, but her position was that she is right and the Church's position is wrong. Yet she still wants to portray herself as a "devout" Catholic. But how are you "devout," if you're not paying attention to basic tenets?

That seems simple. But not to some on the left who have come to Pelosi's defense.

Here's CNN's Jim Sciutto's 'objective' take.

12 years of Catholic school, altar boy, family deeply involved in our church, and never saw anyone banned from receiving communion. This is a deep fissure in the church - and a position Pope Francis himself doesn't support. https://t.co/8bdFMZ6NzX

"12 years of Catholic school, altar boy, family deeply involved in our church, and never saw anyone banned from receiving communion," Sciutto claimed. "This is a deep fissure in the church - and a position Pope Francis himself doesn't support."

Then all the folks on the left responding to Sciutto accused the Archbishop and/or the Church of 'politicizing' the situation.

Um, guys? The Church has held this position since forever that abortion is a grave sin. Cordileone warned her, and she ignored him. Strangely enough, a church gets to decide who they are in communion with; the government, politicians, or liberal media don't get to dictate that. That's written into the founding document of our Nation. If anyone is 'politicizing' anything, it's Pelosi who is ignoring the basic tenet to pursue her political agenda.

When Kerry ran for president in 2004, St. Louis Archbishop Raymond Burke ordered he be denied Communion when campaigning in the area. Republican New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani was also told he should not take Communion because of his position on abortion by Edward Cardinal Egan. It isn't political on the part of the Church, and Sciutto is spreading ignorant liberal talking points, if he thinks this is the first time anyone has been denied. It shows what kind of a 'journalist' Sciutto is, if he can't even figure that out before tweeting nonsense. Notice while he says he has "family deeply involved in our church," he doesn't say he is deeply involved. It shows.

Notice that so many people upset about this decision cite their Catholic upbringing, not their active participation, in the Church and the life of the faith community, yet they want to dictate the decisions and expectations of those who lead the Church.

The Pope specifically left this up to each Bishop to determine this based on their direct interaction with the person in question.

In other words...... This decision is literally a direct result of Pope Francis' position and policy. https://t.co/UVwARSD39d

These are the same liberals who seek to constantly dictate to everyone else, who think they can dictate to the Church how to enforce its own beliefs. Newsflash: they can't.
