There were a handful of mini relief stations popping up along the side of the road that people set up on their own. They placed bottled water and snacks on tables, covered by battered beach umbrellas. But there were no aid distribution centers on the island. No mobile units handing out necessities.

Miami had their shit together....not like there's no swampers with jacked deep water pickups or jeeps in that area or anything.......huh sheepfish?

Katrina came right the fuck over us when I was working there.
But so has fort Myers: charley and Irma for example.
It's a matter of professionalism in public safety folks. Miami hires well trained first responders and hurricane preparedness personnel.
Fort Myers now, sadly, hires only politically correct magats as public administrators and hurricane preparedness personnel.
Information and training for such events is widely and readily available....for anyone professional enough to give a fuck and learn.
Not profiteering political hacks more concerned with wokeism than....public safety.
They completely ignored the hurricane situational action plan in place for years.....designed by, yup: professionals
