It was that rarity, a genuine sale to clear up space in the factory warehouse for their expanding assortment of new clothing items. Shop-Eat-Surf I found that story via Google News.

I've got a little pile of new boardshorts, probably kind of dumb for someone who likes instant-dry Patagonias enough to wear their water-repellant shirts.

I have more than a few. They are ten year trunks. That being said, I like the lighter weight of my balsa bills.
