I surfed O club a few years ago in the summer. The wind had been west for days. I never thought to bring a wetsuit. It was a typical, small clean summer day. Perfect log wave. I got that look by the guys on the stairs, even a heads up for the temperature but it did not prepare me for that. Numb hands and feet and 90 degrees air temperature. I made it about a half hour. Yup, ice cream headaches in the summer. I do not surf the upwelling anymore. Not worth it. It's colder than winter water sometimes. |
