Put out of Bair's Cove at O dark thirty. Capt. Bob has the 19" Spyder, 140 Suzuki, Hydraulic Jack plate, trim tabs, Minn Kota trolling motor. Excellent Simrad sonar, gps.

But the most important element (Besides the 60-year experience of Capt. Bob) is the bait:
fresh, live, palm length, croakers.

We start out in the canal. Lots of wildlife. Pelicans, manatee, dolphins, tarpon. We can see the large banana shapes near the bottom. Reds.

I immediately hook one. Thump, rod bends, it's on. I cant keep it from getting near the motor. Cut off. Crap...

We head down to whale tail area. (Mosquito Lagoon) , Water looks good, grass is coming back with a vengeance.

Not a lot of visible bait. We start getting into over slot trout. All of us (3) boat 23" or so. We can keep one over size. So now we need five in the slot. We head to a bay area near the Bio lab ramp. We limit out on slot size in less than 20 minutes.

We go back through the canal and head south on the Indian River side. Trout, trout, trout. All good by around 1 pm. Nice breeze kept the heat down. Back to the ramp. My buds give all the fish to me. (Lots of people just don't have the place to fillet them.) Good clean looking fillets. A few worms in one. Family fish fry today (8/27/23)

Maybe one more trip this season with Capt Bob.
