I've been shopping at the Tractor Supply Store on the corner of Wickham and Pineda lately. It's a cool store. Just to walk around and look what's available. Easier to get in and out of versus Home depot.

Tractor Supply, known for selling farm gear, tractor parts and animal feed, saw a fallow field in its product offerings nearly four years ago. Shoppers wanted more plants, flowers and gardening supplies, but they were taking their dollars elsewhere.

"That fueled us," Tractor Supply Chief Financial Officer Kurt Barton said of the company's shift in strategy to expand its gardening options starting in late 2020. Now that investment is starting to bloom, and the retailer is adding even more sprawling garden centers to its stores in a bid to keep shoppers, who can buy everything from flowers and potting mix to bushes and fruit-and-vegetable plants. The plan is to nearly triple their garden centers in the next two years.
