Just checked 32903 beach. Perfect except for tide being too high. And a bit cool.

Inside buoy says 64 and I imagine the water on the beaches is a tad lower.

3.3 at 11 on the inside? That's pretty solid.

If the Pier is rocking, don't come on knocking.

Up where the water's 52, air 39, Kill Devil Hills

Looks like windy mess all over up there.

k

Confirmation of the mess:  a cruise ship going from NY to Port Canaveral got into hurricane winds.  TV 9

Brett Barley posted videos of the Cape Hatteras Motel flooded out, along with the rest of Buxton.  Photographer Daniel Pullen also has a low-quality video from the motel.  Lots and lots of water.  Apparently the local schools will open 3 hours late.

Frisco should be offshore, smaller but fun!

If you can get to Frisco.  Wind was supposed to calm down this afternoon.  Frisco is a fantastic recreational beach.  Pier ruins to organize the surf, none of the sudden drop-off at the water line that's a nuisance at Kill Devil, warmer water....

I still have my arm in a sling.  I've nailed down plans to visit up there in mid March, provided the arm recovers as expected.  It should be an excuse to take a short break from therapy.

Might be size wise, but I guarantee you they're all close outs. Reef road and possibly South Beach are probably the only two spots down south that are working.

I saw a set break on the LW Pier surfline cam that had 2 waves breaking out beyond the end of the pier that had clear blue walls that peeled all the way past the pier for about 100 yards. I will try and upload pics.

Those waves have gotta be 8-9ft+. Peeled all the way across the pier.
