Yes, I paddled out; sadly I didn't make it out. Yes, I was DENIED
Too much board with 9 footer or poor timing or too old or ???
or a combination of all those.


After 20min of trying, and I tried hard, ... I came in and went further
north insearchof waves for a "more mature" surfer ...
... something easier (at least for me, the 'ol man)

And I found them ...
....and I must say, my 2nd wave made it all worthwhile;
a big loooong left ...... WOW !!
(not as big as further south, but it was big enough)

No shame there Sunrise, we've all been there.  This mature surfer with a bum shoulder resorts to swimming at times to make it out.  Of course I surf where nobody eles goes so I don't have to worry about anybody getting hit by my trailing board.

Dan... Same thing almost happened to me. Hit it too hard in the gym yesterday and had noodle arms before I even got in the water. Took me like 20 minutes to get out, heh. Once i got past the quicksand I was good though

thanks for sharing the shot! We were out for a combined 6 hours or so yesterday.....what a day indeed!! Starting with with some wild and woolly bombs up at Hightower through RC's, and then a very very sweet session late afternoon at the pier.

 

Looks like your late afternoon shots came from the pier? We were calling it little waikiki, just so many peelrs with great form to be had it was insane. Been a long time since my arms and body were worn out after a day in the water, we'd like to all thank the surfing gods for shing on our coast yesterday!! The cold brews went down smooth at the pier afterwards too........epic, epic day had by all!
