From left to right, MS Viper, Da Fin, and a pair of POD PF3

pod swim fin

Their blurb on the box:

PF3 Evolution asymmetric surfing fins are the finest performance available, constructed with multiple density rubber layers, foot ize  to blade lenght ration, unique splay rails®, deep channels, vertical rails, flexible blade and asymmetric foot pocket.

These attributes provide a powerful kick with directed thrust, balance, speed and control with greater wave hold stability.

PF3's are made from superior quality natural buoyant rubber best suited for surfing fins, exclusively manufactured using the POD patent, a lamination technique that combines multiple density rubber layers for the strongest construction.

The foot pocket is extended for versatile fittings and layered with soft rubber making it extra comfortable, the drainage design guarantees rapid water and sand release.

My take:  At least as powerful as Da Fin.  Comfortable heel strap.  Clears sand and shell fragments real fast.  It seems they might be less prone to the Da Fin habit of popping off the foot when hit by a falling lip.  I haven't conducted scientific experiments on that.

Foot pocket/rail design is looking interesting.  The POD3 (and other PODs and MS Viper) have foot pockets integrated with the outside rails.  Da Fin is more separate, and Leblon deliberately separated foot pocket from rails (and made the rails nearly parallel).  So sizable differences in design.

POD has been in business a long time but doesn't have a US distributor.  Shipping from Australia is too expensive to be practical.

POD also offers neat little handplanes, an excellent if expensive rashguard with wear-resistant elbows, and quality fin tethers.  Maybe an excuse to visit Oz, NZ or UK.

Come January, when the (wildly expensive) Leblon fin becomes available in more variations and sizes, there will be an interesting variety of fins on the market.
