SS taxes have basically stayed the same for the last 20-30 years. Sounds like people need some education regarding saving money. People need to determine what kind of life they would like to have when they retire and figure out if maxing out a 401k at $18,500 per year plus Social Security will even get you there. Without some education then I predict we are going to have some really poor old people when the tail end of the GenX'ers and the Millenials start approaching retirement age. The amount of whining and demands from these grown millennials is going to be off the charts. Right now more than half of these men and women-children between the ages of 21 and 37 are still relying on their parents for financial assistance to maintain their lifestyle.

We need to repay, then quit stealing the surplus.

Did we really need to cut federal income by 40% to get back to 2.2 growth?

Are you guys talking about government spending or saving for retirement?

What does military spending have to do with people not taking charge of their lives and putting away money for their retirement?

It isn't the government's job to save for your retirement. People have to take that on themselves.

What do saving for retirement and SS have to do with each other?

I have funded the past, current and will continue to fund the future group for at least 15 more years, yet I am to get none of my money back? Yes, $2 grand a month is no where near enough to retire on, but isn't it my money?

BUT WAIT.........

I thought YOU call this 'Social Security'!

You constantly claim that its part of your SOCIALIST agenda.....

You use it as validation for the rest of your SOCIALIST CRAP!

Now you want to claim it as your own!

BUSTED...AGAIN!

I'll give you another fact....MEDICARE (FICA) is not SOCIALIST either!

I paid into that for my entire life as well!

MORON!

If people are planning on being able to survive on SS alone for retirement then they should take some comfort in the fact that Raman noodles will be easy for them to eat.

I'm more concerned that there is a generation of people coming up who are spending plenty of money on luxuries for the here and now, trying to keep up with a lifestyle that they can't afford, and when they figure out they blew it on saving for retirement, it will be too late. They will throw temper tantrums when those who did plan ahead aren't all that eager to bail them out. They will be the squirrels that didn't put away enough nuts for winter from the old children's books. Now is the time to educate them and to let them know what they can expect if they don't plan ahead, so nobody can say they weren't warned.

The majority of jobs here in awesome Florida are retail/service. Tell us all about these people living extravagant lifestyles in their retail jobs at Kohls, Panera, Walmart,... Oh everybody should be an executive of a business owner or just be fucked eh? There's got to be laborers of some sort. I guess they deserve nothing but derision for not being 'winners'.

I'm tired of hearing about how people walking around with $1000 cell phones and driving cars that cost close to twice what mine did, don't have enough money to pay for health insurance or put away some money for retirement. You don't wait until you are making over $70k to start saving for your retirement. It is about living within your means and making smart choices each day. Kids should be getting as much satisfaction out of looking at the number in their savings accounts as they do about looking at the new Apple product they just blew all their money on. Kids are getting caught up in a keeping up with the Kardashians world and it is all going to come back to bite them in the ass. Regardless of whether you were born dirt poor or you were born a trust-fund kid who's never had to struggle a day in your life, you play the hand you are dealt and you make the most of it. Pretty much all of us are poor when we are young but the decisions you make while you are young, including whether or not you choose to save money, determine whether or not you are poor when you are old.

What's the Republican opinion on pensions?

..or solid living wages thanks to unions?

Wal Mart, $8 something an hour.

Amazon, the same.

Fast food, minimum wage.

Like Rusty said, if you think it's a level playing field you are foolishly mistaken.

The working poor are here, you Republican types should be rejoicing.

And FK, idiot, I won't get back anything near what I have given, unless I live to 100.

Thanks for admitting that you're a liar!

You have claimed many times to date that social security and medicare are SOCIALIST programs!

FACT!

Now you're singing another tune!

Why on earth would you think it's OK to GIVE Social Security and Medicare to ILLEGAL ALIENS...who have not paid into it their whole life?????

Private citizens actually pay into the government and the government has used the money for things other than it's intended purpose. If it isn't socialism, why do Republicans keep trying to take it private?

And it's Medicaid.

Because you want to FORCE it (pay for it REQUIRED) by everyone!

Just like Obamacare!

That MAKES it Socialism!

Ya see IDIOT....I can own a business and NEVER pay into Social Security...EVER!

Your 'Single Payer' would be a FORCED REQUIRED (or go to jail) 'tax'.... to pay for a commodity.

Thats SOCIALISM!

Fool!

No...it's right there...the HIGHLIGHTED areas are for emphasis of the FUCKING REQUIREMENTS!

The word AND means that BOTH things are REQUIRED!

You want to only look at the one and FLUSH THE OTHER DOWN THE TIOLET!

Socialism REQUIRES THE OWNERSHIP!

OWNERSHIP OF THE PRODUCTION!

The government DOES NOT own the production (right now with Social Security)!

WE DO!

As the PAYERS of Social Security WE ARE THE PRODUCERS....NOT THE FUCKING GOVERRNMENT!

MORON!

It IS socialism....The government would OWN the production by REQUIRING BY LAW...payment!

If you dont PAY you go to jail!

Maybe you can suggest AGAIN that it isn't Socialism...you'll get the same answer!

It is!

If you willfully try to evade the federal employment taxes, you commit a felony and can be punished by a fine, and you could be imprisoned for up to five years.

If you willfully fail to collect or pay to the IRS any federal employment tax, you commit a felony and can be fined and you could go to prison for years.

If you willfully fail to file a return, keep federal employment tax records, or give the IRS information it requires, you commit a misdemeanor and face a step financial penalty, and you could go to jail for a year.

If you willfully submit a false IRS form you could be fined and go to jail for up to one year.

If you are the person responsible for withholding, collecting, accounting for, and paying the federal employment taxes and you willfully sign or submit a document that you know contains false statements, you are guilty of a felony and could face a financial penalty and imprisonment for years.

My bad, I'm living slightly in the past and these changes are recent.

But wait, you mean the increase in wages isn't blowing the country apart? Do tell!

I don't think anyone has said that private corporations paying their employees whatever they want to pay them is going to blow the country apart. A mandatory minimum wage, on the other hand, certainly will do harm, mainly to the poor. But that is why progs want it, isn't it - to further harm the poor? Progs love for people to be poor and try to create more of them.

I recall Tpap predicting the apocalypse if there was a $15 minimum wage.

The dead would walk the earth, and probably join the gop.

No apocalypse prediction here. Just said it would hurt the poor and minorities and make everything more expensive for the rest of us. And, of course, I was right. The studies now verify my predictions.
