He didn't plan anything. He's playing along. He didn't go the birther route on his own. But he is a professional grifter so there is the fact that he found a gullible group of people in the conspiracy theory world that would follow him into a pit of boiling lava as long has he chanted their theories at them along the way.

The Cambridge Analytica type stuff is still in play. If you have any hardcore MAGAs in your social media sphere. Look how much dodgy shit they share. They are marks and still being targeted and used.
