With the ever shifting sandbars, seasonal swell direction changes, tourist searching for their own piece of sand, the cocoa beach surf community is about to experience another new change. Welcome home the new Cocoa Beach Surf Museum. The Surf Museum is announcing the Grand Opening of their new facility located at 4275 N. Atlantic Ave (NE corner of A1A and Dixie Lane) inside the Ron Jon Surf Shop watersports rental facility. The Surf Museum will hold a grand opening event Jan 13, 2009 from 7 pm to 9 pm at the new museum. The Surf Museum event will also coincide with the SI Pro which will be recognizing the 50th anniversary of Ron Jon Surf Shop and the 25th anniversary ofthe Surfrider Foundation. The Surf Museum event will also offer product give-a-ways, raffles, hors d'oeuvres, wine and music will be performed by Balsa Bill and his ukelele. Below is a little Surf Museum history by founder and president Sean O'Hare. The members and volunteers at the Cocoa Beach Surf Museum extend to all media outlets, to come out and see why Cocoa Beach is the Surfing capital of the East Coast.
