Santa Fe-based Fenn hid the chest, worth at least $1 million, in the Rocky Mountains of
New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana, 10 years ago. Fenn said that the 12th-century bronze chest weighs 20 pounds and its contents, which include gold coins, gold nuggets, and other valuables, weigh another 22 pounds. But now the hunt is over, as an anonymous man from "back East," Fenn said, revealed that he had found the chest by sending a photograph of it to the author. Writing on the Thrill of the Chase blog, Fenn said: "The treasure has been found. It was under a canopy of stars in the lush, forested vegetation of the Rocky Mountains, and had not moved from the spot where I hid it more than 10 years ago. I do not know the person who found it, but the poem in my book led him to the precise spot. Forrest Fenn Treasure Found ------------------------- Puerto Rico 11 - 24 - 2013 |
