Driving more Americans deeper into poverty and hopelessness just makes the revolution inevitable.

For a century, "welfare state" capitalism has kept things in a sort of balance. Corporate Dems and organized labor forced the capitalists to share enough to maintain a sizeable middle class and keep the "American Dream" alive.
Since Reagan, the conservatives have essentially defeated organized labor and supported policies which accelerated the upward transfer of wealth.

Democrats have been utterly ineffective in mounting significant resistance, probably because they represent the same corporations who now sell to global markets and no longer need an American middle class.

I've been shocked by the resurgence of all flavors of socialist theory among the youth/students of my son's generation. They run the gamut from Marxist/Leninist/Maoists (state communism) to anarcho-syndicalist/communist (libertarian communists if you will). They are all over the place, but one theme is clear, a large segment of the youth no longer sees capitalism as sustainable or desirable.

I should start a new thread, I know I've gone off topic; perhaps I can steer it back by staying that there is a school of thought on the left that trump is a good thing the way a wild fire is good for new growth in the forest.
