Since the assimilation of wunderground into the weather channel borg it is painfully ad laden and quirky.
Anybody know of any alternatives that lay out the weather and hourly wind in a similar way?

Found dark sky but doesn't break it down like wunderground
Ventusky and iwindsurf for wind patterns.
NOAA two different pages and not and easy glance

What do you use for a quick and easy looksie for weather/ hourly winds??

i found the minute cast on accuweather.com to be pretty accurate for winds, rain, temps, especially when you put in your exact location, so it doesn't just pull current readings from the melb. airport

https://www.wunderground.com/wundermap?lat=27.963&lon=-80.505&zoom=13

This gives you access to realtime weather stations Everywhere. By bringing up the highlit station id's, it'll give you another page with graphed info since midnight of that day. Especially helpful of 'wind' data. Some stations are static with updates, others update every few seconds or I think as soon as there is any change.

On a related note, what's your favorite weather app for your mobile devices? The Weather Channel used to be great, but just like the OP mentioned about wunderground and all the ads, the WC app suffers the same problem.

iwindsurf.com has current real time multiple locations and forecast wind - choose your map area & zoom in...

windyty.com is also real good & has animated maps with wind, swell, rain, temps etc etc etc

both have apps for iPhone

IMO none are great at the long range planning forecasts, and only marginally so for short term - always assume it will turn onshore before they stay so and you won't be disappointed

the weather channel & similar are the most frustrating - too many damn ads!!!

We use 'adblocker' which on this machin stops all that nonsense.

This is a great mobile app for winds. I started using the quick chat function to call out wind, surf size and conditions for places I check in my local area.

thanks all for chiming in! I appreciate it and learned some new sites.

Been using Intellicast it's piggybacking Wunderground and not as slow. May have to look into using an ad blocker that was mentioned.

Bump for sector 9 in the search for forecast info. (Though not swell related)

I tried using WeatherUnderground a few times during the past week and just can't take all the junk. Used to really like it but have decided it isn't worth it any longer.

Been using Intellicast for the general local weather reports, it seems to be what weatherunderground used to be.  Quick and has good up-to-date info and forecasts.

I like the windy app for Android.  You can also pull an hourly forcast including winds for any airport. www.aviationweather.gov/taf

Just go to where it says "taf," and type in the airport code.  Patrick AFB is KCOF.  Make sure you select "decoded. This is the straight from the government wind forcast.

Windfinder Pro.  Its worth every penny of the $3.99.

Here's a link to thier website, I have the Windy app as well, this is by far superior.  Also gives swell heights.

Windy has a ton of features.
Weather Underground on the laptop/desktop and you can drop down a weather reporting station.
WeatherBug on my Android device.
