Curious to see if anyone saw this recent Surfline article? Anyone aware of any advocacy groups fighting to to restore our lost surf breaks in Brevard County? https://www.surfline.com/surf-news/rise-fall-first-peak-sebastian-inlet/220317

The Sebastian Inlet situation seems frozen. The Sebastian Inlet District has a narrowly definded mission. It can seem to maintain fishing access on the jetty, but for some reason redesigns to improve surfing aren't allowed. The State Park system is badly underfunded, so can't help.

Most parks are struggling with employees and funding. National parks have taken the biggest hit.

The article insinuated that the loss of Kira resulted in an advocacy group that succesfuly fought for coastal protection that insured wave preservation. With about 70 miles of coast in Brevard County and a loss of most of our better breaks, I was curious if there was any organized effort by our surfing community to fight for wave preservation on our coast?

How can beach bars/breaks be protected when there just dumping sand for beach renourishment year round. The beaches in south Brevard/Indian river county are ruined. Right after hurricane Ian was some of the best consistent surf due to storm taking away that sand and bring back a beach/bar/breaks. But messing it up for the houses built too dam close is really all they care about.

I don't think anybody disputes that.. The question is there any unified effort by the surf community to make their collective voice heard?

Here's an example of efforts made in Hawaii with regard to their beaches. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Save_Our_Surf https://www.surfingeducationassociation.org/community-action
