The ONeill Sebastian Inlet Pro kicked off around noon today.
Special thanks to Mitch Varnes, George Seguna and many others for a quick recovery from problems and setbacks caused by yesterdays weather.

Here's a link to contest photos taken Friday.

Here's one of Evan Geiselman getting attacked by a Bald Eagle

JK. The sequence shows the eagle was in pursuit of feathered prey and Evan completed the maneuver unscathed.

Good job man. It's always nice to see the pro's struggling in rough surf.

I bet the eagle was chasing the osprey to make him drop a fish. That's usually the case with them.

Tomorrow I plan on just relaxing down there.

Great shots Jeepers! Considering the cloudy, cold, windy, rainy day we had to deal with, you did
an awesome job! That eagle was So AMAZING! It flew down and got the bait fish in the water,
I believe. It happened so fast I totally missed it! The kid next to be got the shot, though. He was
so excited.

Surfing in those conditions does nothing but scramble your brain and your confidence.

I bet quite a few pros walked away feeling like kooks.

But at five stars, it's worth the battle.

That eagle was so hot. Nice capture Jeeper.

I was shooting from the other angle down the beach. Got some sick barrel shots. Those guys sure had to work for it today. Some of them made it look like cake though.

"scuse me for wondering"....but I'm having a hard time believing this shot..
Ken, if you say this is for real, I'll go with it.....but I call BIG time photochop
here. To actually catch a Bald Eagle flying over the ocean with a surfer in the background???
Correct me if I'm wrong. ...That's the shot of the year if I'm mistaken...

The PA annouce said something about seeing a bald eagle. I didnt see it nor did I look for it. I was concentrating on keeping Evan in frame. I was startled when I looked at the images on my computer monitor. I did crop it, but not photo shop it. The full image shows an osprey in front of the eagle and small bird also in frame. I posted that. I also submitted it to the Fla Today Photo contest.

Nice shot! I can vouche for the shot with the eagle... a friend of mine showed me some pics from the inlet yesterday and he has three with the eagle and a surfer in the shot... one of them even shows the fish that the eagle caught. He is not going to post them here but they will be entered into the contest.

Wow....my apologies. Maybe take that at as a compliment.
The timing on your shot (now with an eagle AND a 'sprey) was so good
A professional photochopper was fooled.

Good stuff Ken.

Sunday, before the first heat, I showed Travis (the public address announcer) the Evan/Eagle photo and asked if anyone else had a cleaner shot of it. He said he hadn't seen one.

After Evan's heat I presented him an 8x10 of it and had him autograph one for me.
He and the other groms in the Red Bull tent we totally oblivious to the eagle flyby and thought it was photoshopped.
